Slytherin Pride

Ostin (taas) itelleni jotain kivaa ja Potter-teemaista, tällä kertaa juhlistaen luihuisuutta. 

 

Ennestään minulla oli itseneulottu kaulahuivi Luihuisen tupaväreissä, mutta sitä en oo käyttäny vuosiin, koska tein siitä vähän liian pitkän ja leveän. Tätä uuttakaan en oo vielä päässy pitämään, koska on ollu niin lämpimät ilmat.

I bought (again) something nice and Potter-themed for myself, this time celebrating Slytherin-ness.

I already had a self-knitted scarf in Slytherin house colours, but I haven't worn it in years, because I made it a bit too long and wide. I haven't yet got the chance to wear the new one, since the weather's been too warm for that.

(Pre-)Christmas Gifts from Fable & Black

Vuosi 2016 on alkanu aika kurjasti julkkiskuolemien osalta. Etenkin Alan Rickmanin poismeno kosketti minuu; nuorempana fanitin herraa kovinkin, ja edelleen pidän tätä yhtenä suosikkinäyttelijänäni. Mutta en nyt aio puhua siitä, vaan haluan esitellä pari pientä Potter-henkistä juttua, jotka ostin loppuvuodesta Fable & Black -kaupasta itselleni eräänlaisina esijoululahjoina. Selailin Etsyä etsiskellen jotain suhteellisen edullista mut kuitenkin kivannäköistä kirjanmerkkiä, jollasen sit löysinkin, ja samasta kaupasta kylkeen tarttui myös rintamerkki.

Kuvausrekvisiittana toimiva Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them puolestaan löysi tiensä ostoskoriini Adlibriksen Black Friday -alesta ja pääsi komistuttamaan Potter-kirjastoani. Black & Fable -tilaukseni mukana sain muuten kaupanpäällisenä Albert Einsteinin sitaatilla varustetun postikortin. Suosittelen tsekkaamaan ton kaupan tarjonnan, jos on yhtään kirjanörtin vikaa! Ainakin minulle nää pikku jutut tuotti paljon iloa. ^_^

Year 2016 has had quite a gloomy start due to some celebrity deaths. Especially the passing of Alan Rickman touched me; I was a big fan of his work when I was younger and I still consider him one of my favourite actors. But I'm not here to talk about that. Instead I want to show you a couple of little Potter themed things I bought in November from Fable & Black for myself as some kind of pre-Christmas gifts. I was browsing Etsy, looking for an inexpensive but cool-looking book mark which I did eventually find and I also bought a badge from the same seller.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them copy I'm using as a prop was from a Black Friday sale in a book store. It made its way to adorn my Potter library. Also, I received a free post card with Albert Einstein quote with my order from Fable & Black. I recommend checking the shop out, if you consider yourself to be a book worm even a bit! These little things have been bringing a lot of joy for me at least. ^_^

Advanced Potion-Making

Voihan Merlinin pöksyt miten hieno miun uuen puhelimen uus kotelo on. ♥ Halusin ihan esitellä sen täällä. Potterismi virtaa siis miussa vahvana, jos joku ei vielä tienny. Muutenkin oon ollu tässä erityisen Potter-fiiliksissä, kun alotin kyseisen kirjasarjan lukemisen viime yönä taas triljoonatta kertaa, kun en saanu unta, ja samalla siemailin Slytherin-mukistani Pukan herkullista kamomilla-vanilja-hunajateetä. Sen jälkeen nukuttikin taas hyvin.

Oon viimeset kymmenen vuotta haaveillut pimeänpiirtotatuoinnista, ja jokin kaunis päivä otan vielä sen. Haluun kuitenkin semmosen persoonallisemman tatskan enkä sitä samanlaista leffaversioo, jonka kaikki pikkukuolonsyöjät on tatuoinu käteensä. Opiskelijabudjetti ei oo vaan sallinu noin isoja sijoituksia, mut joskus vielä!

Tänään laitoin päälle mustan nappiröyhelömekon, jonka napituksesta tulee mieleen aina Snape. Jos Snape ois nainen, se käyttäis varmasti tommosta mekkoo. Ihan varmasti. Ei sillä, ettei se vois käyttää tommosta miehenäkin...

Oh Merlin's pants how gorgeous the new flip case of my new phone is. ♥ I wanted to show it to you guys, too. The potterism is strong in me , in case someone didn't already know that. I've been feeling even more potteristic recently, since I started reading the series for the trillionth time yesterday night, when I couldn't get sleep, while sipping delicious chamomile-vanilla-honey tea by Pukka from my Slytherin mug. After that, I slept again like a baby.

For the last ten years, I've ween dreaming of getting a dark mark tattoo, and some beautiful day I'm going to get it. I want a more individual tattoo, though – not the same movie version every baby death eater has tattooed on their arm. The student budget hasn't allowed to have such big investments, but some day!

Today I wore a black, frilled dress with buttons. Its buttoning always brings Snape to mind. If Snape was a woman, she'd certainly wear a dress like that. Most certainly indeed. Not like he couldn't wear something like that as a man too...

Madame Deathly Hallows

Moikka! Tänään on taas vähä semmonen tilanne, etten oikein tiiä, mitähän opiskeluhommia sitä nyt tekis – vois lukee jompaankumpaan kahesta tulevasta tentistä, kirjotella jotain kolmesta laajahkosta esseestä/analyysitehtävästä tai litteroida gradumateriaalia. Ratkasu on siis alkaa kyhätä blogipostausta ja sysätä päätöksentekoo vähä myöhemmäks. :D

Eilen kävin kahvilla yhen pitkäaikaisimman ystäväni kanssa Paheessa. Halusin laittaa päälle uuen Potter-paidan, jonka löysin nettikirppikseltä just vähän aikaa sit. Sen ympärille kasasin sit aika simppelin, mustan asukokonaisuuden, että paita ite ois huomion keskipisteenä.

Toi onkin oikeestaan miun eka Potter-teemanen vaatekappale (Luihuis-kaulahuivin ja -kravatin lisäks). Joskus ala-asteella miulla oli joku nolo Potter-collegepaita, mut sitä ei lasketa. :D Ja tää kyseinen paita on kivan hienovarainen eikä huuda Potterin nimee kovaan ääneen.

Lisäks aattelin esitellä tuoksutuliaisen, jonka sain poikaystävän vanhemmilta. Ne kävi reissussa ja olivat sit ostaneet lentokoneesta miulle Jean Paul Gaultierin Ma Dame -tuoksun. Se on aika nuorekas ja voimakas tuoksu, jonka aattelin pitää lähinnä biletuoksuna. Ja siinä on nätti pullo.

Miun perustuoksuhan on nyt reilun vuoden ajan ollu Yves Rocherin Malesian kookospähkinä -tuoksu, josta oon kyllä tykänny suunnattomasti ensisuihkaisusta asti. Mut nyt pitänee varmaan siirtyy niitten koulutöiden pariin. Mukavaa viikonloppuu kaikille! :)

Hi there! I'm kinda having problems with what school work to do today, since there are so many options – I could study for either of upcoming exams, write one of three broadish essay/analysis assignments or transcribe some material for my master's thesis. So the solution is to start making a blog post and make the decision later. :D

Yesterday I went to a café with one of my oldest friends. I wanted to wear the new Potter shirt I found on a web flea market a little while ago. The other parts of the outfit were black and quite simple, so that the shirt would be in the spotlight.

That is actually my first Potter-themed garment (in addition to a Slytherin scarf and tie). As a kid I had some awkward Potter college shirt, but that doesn't count. :D And this shirt in question is kinda subtle and it doesn't scream "this is a Harry Potter shirt".

I thought also to show a fragrance gift I got from my boyfriend's parents. They were on a holiday trip and they had bought me the Ma Dame eau de toilette by Jean Paul Gaultier in the airplane. It's quite a youthful and strong fragrance, and I think it'll make a good party perfume. And it has a pretty bottle.

My basic fragrance has been the Malesian coconut by Yves Rocher for a bit over a year now, and I've been loving it from the first spray. But I guess now I have to get to the studying. Have a nice weekend, everyone! :)

Lost in Hogwarts

Onpa taas Potter-nörttimäinen olo: aloitin just kirjasarjan lukemisen uudestaan tsiljoonatta kertaa, ja samalla pelailen innoissani Pottermorea ja kirjoitan näppäimistö sauhuten ficciä pitkästä aikaa. Henkisesti oon Tylypahkassa suurimman osan ajasta. Joo, tiedän, pitäis olla tässä maailmassa ja tehdä kaikkee hyödyllistä, mut tarviin vähän hermolomaa.

On muuten aika masentavaa olla köyhä sekä oikeessa elämässä (koska opiskelijabudjetti) että Pottermoressa. Joskus tuntui, ettei ne kaljuunat voi mitenkään loppuu, mut nähtävästi ne voi. Ei sit enää keitellä taikajuomia prkl.

Pahoittelen totaalisen turhaa postausta. Halusin kertoo tästä jonnekin. Nyt palaan Tylypahkaan. Ciao.

I feel like a real Potter geek again: I just started re-reading the series for the zillionth time, and at the same time I'm playing Pottermore agog and writing fan fiction after a while with keyboard on fire. Mentally I'm at Hogwarts for the most of time. Yeah, I know, I should be in this world and do all kinds of useful stuff, but I really need some holiday.

By the way, it's pretty depressing to be broke both in the real world (because of the student budget) and in Pottermore. It seemed that you can never run out of galleons, but apparently you can. Well, no more potion brewing for me, dammit.

I apologise for the totally idle post. I wanted to tell about this somewhere. Now I'll head back to Hogwarts. Ciao.

Potterinsa lukenut tietää, miten paljo toi yks ainoo sana merkitsee. Miten pieni sydän sykähtikään, kun aamulla postiluukusta tipahti punainen kirjekuori tutulla käsialalla. Miten silmät kostuivatkaan, kun kuoren sisältä paljastui tällaista.

Ihana rakkaani oli sitten päättänyt lähettää Briteistä jotain. Oisin osannut odottaa korkeintaan paikallisia maisemia esittelevää postikorttia. "Ajattelin, että saattaisit pitää niistä." Jäi kyllä aamukahvi kesken ja kylmenemään, kun menin niin tolaltani ton pienen paketin takia.

Jotkut varmasti tietääkin, miten tärkeitä Potter-kirjat miulle on. Oon viettäny puolet elämästäni niiden parissa ja kasvanu niitten parissa ja niihin kiinni. Ne on auttaneet minuu vaikeina aikoina, ja muutenkin ne vaan on tosi iso osa minuu. Ja joo, oon henkeen ja vereen Luihuinen, Snape on miun lempihahmo ja sen riipaisevan rakkaustarinan lukeminen saa miut aina nyyhkimään, edelleen, vaikka oon lukenu senkin kirjan jo monta kertaa ja tiiän mitä oottaa.

Joten kyllä, saatan ehkä pitää noista käsintehdyistä upeista koruista, jotka on romanttisinta, mitä oon koskaan saanut. Koko paketti kortteineen päivineen on niin täydellinen.

Päivän asukin (josta ei kylläkään oo kokokuvaa, trololol) rakentui sit kokonaan noiden korujen ympärille. Jotain mustaa ja melko yksinkertaista, että korut oisivat se "juttu" ja huomionkiinnittäjä. Luihuisen kunniaksi silmämeikkikin oli tummanvihree.

Mitä muuta tässä enää voi sanoo. Tää on vähintäänkin yks parhaista lahjoista, jonka oon koskaan saanu, ja tällä on tosi suuri merkitys miulle. Kiitos. ♥

If you have read your Potters, you know how much that one little word means. Oh how my little heart beat when I received a red envelope with familiar handwriting this morning. And how my eyes moistened when I opened the envelope.

My beloved had decided to send me something from Britain. I expected a post card with local scenery, at most. "I thought you might like these." I got so shaken up because of that little packet that I left my morning coffee unfinished.

Some may know how important the Potter books are to me. I've spend half of my life with them and grown with them and into them. They have helped me during hard times, and they just are so big part of me. And yeah, I'm a Slytherin root and branch, Snape is my favourite character and reading that heart-rendering love story always makes me weep, still, though I've read that book many times already and I know what's gonna happen. 

So yes, I might like those gorgeous hand-made jewellery that is the most romantic thing I've ever got.  The whole packet with card and everything was so perfect.

Today's outfit (of which I don't even have a full length photo trololol) was build around those jewellery. Something black and pretty simple, so that the jewellery would be the "thing" and attention capturer. To Slytherin's credit, the eye make-up was dark green.

What else could I say. This is, at least, one of the best gifts I've ever got, and this means so much to me. Thank you. ♥

I've got interested in Pottermore again after Slytherin won the house cup. Does anyone of my readers perhaps like to spend their time too on that virtual Potter world? It would be nice to have more friends that could be challenged to a duel. :)

30 Day Song Challenge – Day 25

Day 25 – A song that makes you laugh   
This was the "funniest" video that I found with this song. (So Harry Potter doesn't really ahve anything to do with the Banana Phone.) Well, what can I say about this song. I remembered its existence earlier today and felt nostalgic. (It doesn't really make me laugh, but usually it makes me smile.)

Addictions

Sain Yoru Mistiltä addiktiohaasteen, jonka kaltaiseen vastasin jo alkukuusta, mutta ajattelin, että ehkä on hauskaa tehdä tällainen nyt taas kuun lopussa. Eli tarkoituksena on kertoa kuvien kera asioista, joihin on addiktoitunut tällä hetkellä.

Yoru Mist gave me a challenge that's similar to the one I already did in the beginning of this month, but I thought it could be fun to do this again now in the end of the month. So the idea is to tell with pictures about things you are addicted to at the moment.

Pottermore. Oon vasta nyt kunnolla innostunut Pottermoresta. Liityin kyllä sinne jo huhtikuussa, mutta pääsyin Korpinkynteen, joka toki oli toiseksi paras vaihtoehto, mutta en jaksanut hirveästi nähdä vaivaa kerätäkseni pisteitä tuvalle, joka kuitenkin tuntui vieraalta. Nyt muutama päivä sitten tein uuden accountin, ja kas kummaa, lajitteluhattu päästi minut tällä kertaa Luihuiseen, ja nyt oon ihan onnessani keitellyt taikajuomia ja kaksintaistellut ja muuta kivaa. :D

Pottermore. Only now I have really got excited about Pottermore. I did join it already in April, but I ended up in Raavenclaw, and though it was the second best option, I didn't feel enthusiastic about collecting point to a house that felt a bit strange. A few days ago I made a new account, and, odd enough, the Sorting Hat did let me in Slytherin this time, and so I've been happily brewing potions and having duels and other stuff. :D

Halloween. Vielä kuukausi aikaa lempparijuhlaani! Yritän kuumeisesti miettiä asuja itselleni. Miulla on näillä näkymin kolmet Halloween-bileet samalla viikolla. Yhdet on Potter-aiheiset, joihin on jo Luihuis-varustus omasta takaa, mutta kahdet muut bileet vielä ovat asuja vailla. Niin ihmeellistä kuin se onkin, miulla ei ole edes mitään varsinaisia ideoita. Yleensä saan inspiraation hyvissä ajoin, mutta nyt ei oo oikein sitä kuulunut.

Halloween. One month till my favourite holiday! I'll have three Halloween parties at the same week. One of them is Potter themed, so I already have Slytherin stuff, but the other too parties need still outfits. I don't even have any good ideas, like I usuallu do. Inspiration hasn't struck me yet.

 

Pimeänpiirto-tatuointi. Okei, oon himoinnut tätä jo ikiajat, mutta nyt himo on taas aika voimakas. Haluaisin samankaltaisen kuin Potter-leffoissa mutta kuitenkin jollain tavalla persoonallisen. Miulla on jonkin verran tatuointirahaa säästössä, mutta sillä ei vielä varmaan kovin pitkälle pötkitä. Ehkä pitäisi ottaa ensi askel ja varata tarkempi suunnitteluaika tatuoijalle.

A Dark Mark tattoo. Okay, I've been craving for this for ages already, but now the crave is pretty strong again. I'd like to have a tattoo similar to the one in Potter movies but it should be somehow be personal also. I have some tattoo savings, but I don't think they're enough. Maybe I should take the first step and make a planning appointment with the tattoo artist.

Industrial rock. Oon aika kausi-ihminen musiikin suhteen. Välillä kuuntelen pelkkää kasarigoottirockia, toisinaan maistuu parhaiten visual kei, ja nyt taas on selvästi industrial rock -kausi. Valitsin ton kuvan siksi, että Nine Inch Nails on oma lempparini kyseisestä genrestä, mutta esimerkiksi nyt viikonloppuna oon kuunnellut eniten KMFDM:ää, ja parhaillaan taustalla pauhaa taas Ministry (jonka jotkut kai luokittelee industrial metaliksi mutta anyway).

Industrial rock. I'm pretty a stage person concerning music. At times I listen to just 80's gothic rock, sometimes visual kei goes down best, and now is clearly an industrial rock stage. I chose the picture because Nine Inc Nails is my favourite of that genre, but for example on this weekend I've been listening mostly KMFDM, and at the moment on the background is playing Ministry (that some people categorize as industrial metal but anyway).

They said I could be anything I wanted...

Keskiviikkona sain todella hyviä uutisia: sain tietää saaneeni sivuaineoikeuden englannin kieleen ja kääntämiseen, mitä olen tavoitellut opintojeni alusta lähtien! Osallistuin nyt syksyllä sivuainekokeeseen kolmatta kertaa, ja olin jo melkein menettänyt toivoni koko asian suhteen, joten voi sitä onnen ja itkun määrää, kun sain kuulla tulleeni valituksi. Ja pitihän sitä vähän juhlistaa:

kuohuviinijuomaa & vasta- ja itseleivottuja Kinder-suklaamuffineja

Seuraavana päivänä eli torstaina olikin jo eka englantiin liittyvä juttu hoidettavana, nimittäin ääntämyskurssia edeltävä ääntämystesti, johon muuten harjoittelin lukemalla edellisenä iltana ääneen englanninkielisiä Pottereita sekä Lovecraftin novelleja. Äänitin puhettani ja kuuntelin, kuulostiko se ihan juntilta. :D En oo kuitenkaan käyttänyt englantii suullisesti kovinkaan paljon sit lukion jälkeen eli reiluun pariin vuoteen.

Pääaineenani yliopistossa on siis suomen kieli. Pitää nyt vähän katsella, miten saan kääntäjäopinnot yhdistettyy siihen, mut eiköhän tää tästä. Ens viikolla alkaa ekat englannin kurssit jee. ♥ (Alkaa ens viikolla kyllä muutkin kurssit mut en mie niistä oo yhtä innoissani.)

Torstaina ois ollut meikitön päivä, mut epäluonnonkauniina ihmisenä en siihen suostunut osallistumaan ja ostin vaan uusia meikkejä, joista pari voisin esitellä tässä. Oon jo pitemmän aikaa miettinyt meikinpohjustusvoiteen ostamista, koska ihoni alkaa nopeasti kiiltää meikin alla, eikä esimerkiksi luomiväri pysy kovin pitkään. Päädyin sitten L'Oréal Paris'n pohjustusvoiteeseen, jonka lupailtiin heleyttävän ja tasoittavan ihoa, tuovan samettisen ja matan lopputuloksen sekä soveltuvan myös huulten ja luomien pohjustamiseen.

Voide on hivenen moussemaista ja levittyy helposti iholle. Iho tuntuu pehmeältä ja tosiaankin samettiselta, mutta olisin toivonut voiteen pitävän meikin paremmin paikallaan. Luomiväri ei pysynyt yhtään aiempaa paremmin, eikä ihokaan pysynyt mattana kovin pitkään. Samettinen tuntu säilyi kyllä koko päivän.

Uusi ripsiväri on ollut myös hakusessa jonkin aikaa, koska en ole oikein pitänyt edellisestäni, Rimmelin Glam'eyes Mascarasta. No joo, Rimmel nyt muutenkin on mitä on, mutta tuo on kyllä jotenkin erityisen huono ripsiväri mielestäni. Kaikki ripset tarttuu yhteen ja muutenkin se on jotenkin tosi haalee ja ääh. Ostin sit Isadoran Precision Mascaran, lähinnä just sen takia, koska sen pitäisi pienen harjansa ansiosta erotella ripset erityistarkasti.

No. Ootin kyllä tältäkin tuotteelta vähän enemmän. Harja on pieni ja kätevä, mutta ei se kyllä mitenkään täydellisestä kuitenkaan ripsiä erottele, vaan edelleen ne takertuvat toisiinsa ja edelleen alaripset on aika hankala saada siististi värjättyä. On toi kuitenkin huomattavasti parempi kuin edellinen ripsivärini, ja sillä saa kyllä todella mustat ripset lisäämällä väriä useamman kerroksen.

Eli täydellinen meikinpohjustusvoide sekä ripsiväri ovat vielä hakusessa, mut ei noi turhia ostoksia olleet kuitenkaan. :) Mut nyt oon lusmuillut tarpeeksi ja siirryn lukemaan kirjatenttiin. Hyvää viikonlopun jatkoa!

Translation:

Wednesday I got some really good news: I heard I got a right to study English and Translation as a minor subject, which I've been trying to achieve since the beginning of my studies! This autumn I attended the minor subject test for the third time, and I had almost lost all hope of it, so I was extremely happy when I heard I got selected, I even cried of happiness. And of course it called for a little celebration. I had sparkling wine drink and freshly self-baked Kinder chocolate muffins.

Already on next day, Thursday, I had a first English-related thing, namely a pronunciation test for a pronunciation course. I practised for it by reading Potter books and Lovecraft's short stories aloud in English, and recorded my speech and listened to it, if it sounded stupid. :D I haven't really used English much orally after high school so for over two years.

I have Finnish (linguistics) as a major subject in university. I have to think how I can combine that and translator studies sensibly, but I'm sure things are going to be allright. My first English courses will star next week yay. ♥ (Well all the other courses will star as well, but I'm not so excited about them.)

Thursday was a "make-up-free day", but as a person of not natural beauty I didn't participate and I even bought some new make-up products I could show you now. I've been considering of buying a primer for quite a while, because my skin starts quickly shining under make-up and for example eye shadow won't stay on for long. So I bought a primer of L'Oréal Paris, and it was promised to brighten and smooth skin, bring a matt and velvet result and be auitable for priming also lids and lips.

The primer is mousse-like and easy to apply. Skin feels soft and indeed velvet, but I hoped it to keep the make-up better. Skin doesn't stay matt for very long, but the velvet feeling stayd for whole day.

I didn't really liked my previous mascara, Glam'eyes by Rimmel, so I was looking for a new mascara also. Well, Rimmel isn't very good anyway, but I thought that mascara was especially bad. It made lashes to cling together and it wasn't very black etc. So I bought a Precision Mascara by Isadora, because it was said to separate lashes carefully because of its small brush.

Well. I expected more of that product also. The brush is small and handy, but it certainly does not separate lashes perfectly, they still cling together and it's still difficult to color the lower lashes. Anyway it surely is better than my previous one, and you get really black lashes by adding it more.

So I haven't found yet a perfect primer or mascara, but those weren't useless purchases anyway. :) Now I have to start reading for a test. Have a nice weekend!
