What Happened to the Granny Squares

Viime kuussa kerroin innostuneeni isoäidinneliöiden virkkaamisesta. Mutta mitä niistä neliöistä sit loppujen lopuksi tuli?

Laukkuja! Ylempi oli 24-vuotislahja ystävälleni ja alempi taas äitienpäivälahja. Nyt kun molemmat on annettu, voi niitä esitellä jo täälläkin.

Nämä olivat kivoja projekteja, ja lahjansaajatkin ilahtuivat laukuistaan. Miulla on jäljellä vielä yks kasa isoäidinneliöitä, joista tehnen laukun myös itselleni, vaikkakin luultavasti hieman erimallisen. :)

Last month I told I had become a granny square addict. But what did I end up doing with the squares?

Bags! The one on top was a birthday present for a friend of mine turning 24 and the one on bottom was a mother's day gift. Now that both bags have been given to their new owners, I can show them already here.

These were cool little projects, and the gift-receivers did also become delighted because of them. I still have one pile of granny squares that I'm probably going to turn into a bag for myself, though I don't think it's going to be of the same model. :)

Moi! Ja mukavaa alkanutta viikkoo kaikille. Mie tosiaan vanhenin taas vähä viikonloppuna, ja vaikken mitään juhlia pitänykään, niin sain kuitenkin muutaman lahjan. Niistä isoin onkin ekassa kuvassa (jossa näkyy kylläkin vaan boksi), elikkä uus puhelin, jonka sain perheeltäni. (En oo vielä ottanu sitä käyttöön, kun oottelen tilaamaani koteloo eka.) Kumppani taas muisti minuu musiikilla sekä uusilla kuulokkeilla.

Yks pitkäaikaisimmista ystävistäni teki yllätysvisiitin synttäripäivänäni ja toi mystisen kirjekuoren, josta paljastu nätti kortti ja rannekoru. :> 

Oon fiilistelly koko viikonlopun ja tän alkuviikon WÖYH!:n uutta albumii Dwzyrekii, joka ilmesty perjantaina mut jonka sain ostettuu vasta tänään, kun paikallisella levyliikkeellä oli ollu kuljetusongelmia eikä levyjä ollu saatu ilmestymispäiväks. Onneks se oli kuitenkin Spotifyssa.

 

Ja tossa oikeella on kuva miun gradun tutkimussuunnitelmasta, joka oli eilen käsittelyssä ja tarkastelun kohteena. En tiiä, kiinnostaako teitä ketään e-urheilu, mut ite oon aika liekeissä graduaiheestani. ^_^

Hi! I hope your week has been nice so far. So, I aged on last weekend and received some gifts, though I didn't throw any parties or anything. The biggest one is on the first photo (though you can see only the box there), that is a new phone that my family gave me. (I haven't yet started using it, though, because I'm waiting to get a flip case I ordered first.) My partner gave me the new Nightwish album and new headphones.

One of my most long-term friends made a surprise visit on my birthday and brought me a mysterious envelope containing a pretty card and a bracelet. :>

I've been enjoying the new album Dwzyrek by WÖYH! during the last few days. It came out on Friday but I could buy it just now, since the local record store had some problems with shipping and they didn't get the records until this week. Fortunately it was on Spotify.

And there, on the right, is a photo of my research plan for my master's thesis that is about the Finnish eSports commentary on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I don't know if any of you is interested in eSports, but I'm quite excited about the topic of my thesis. ^_^

Madame Deathly Hallows

Moikka! Tänään on taas vähä semmonen tilanne, etten oikein tiiä, mitähän opiskeluhommia sitä nyt tekis – vois lukee jompaankumpaan kahesta tulevasta tentistä, kirjotella jotain kolmesta laajahkosta esseestä/analyysitehtävästä tai litteroida gradumateriaalia. Ratkasu on siis alkaa kyhätä blogipostausta ja sysätä päätöksentekoo vähä myöhemmäks. :D

Eilen kävin kahvilla yhen pitkäaikaisimman ystäväni kanssa Paheessa. Halusin laittaa päälle uuen Potter-paidan, jonka löysin nettikirppikseltä just vähän aikaa sit. Sen ympärille kasasin sit aika simppelin, mustan asukokonaisuuden, että paita ite ois huomion keskipisteenä.

Toi onkin oikeestaan miun eka Potter-teemanen vaatekappale (Luihuis-kaulahuivin ja -kravatin lisäks). Joskus ala-asteella miulla oli joku nolo Potter-collegepaita, mut sitä ei lasketa. :D Ja tää kyseinen paita on kivan hienovarainen eikä huuda Potterin nimee kovaan ääneen.

Lisäks aattelin esitellä tuoksutuliaisen, jonka sain poikaystävän vanhemmilta. Ne kävi reissussa ja olivat sit ostaneet lentokoneesta miulle Jean Paul Gaultierin Ma Dame -tuoksun. Se on aika nuorekas ja voimakas tuoksu, jonka aattelin pitää lähinnä biletuoksuna. Ja siinä on nätti pullo.

Miun perustuoksuhan on nyt reilun vuoden ajan ollu Yves Rocherin Malesian kookospähkinä -tuoksu, josta oon kyllä tykänny suunnattomasti ensisuihkaisusta asti. Mut nyt pitänee varmaan siirtyy niitten koulutöiden pariin. Mukavaa viikonloppuu kaikille! :)

Hi there! I'm kinda having problems with what school work to do today, since there are so many options – I could study for either of upcoming exams, write one of three broadish essay/analysis assignments or transcribe some material for my master's thesis. So the solution is to start making a blog post and make the decision later. :D

Yesterday I went to a café with one of my oldest friends. I wanted to wear the new Potter shirt I found on a web flea market a little while ago. The other parts of the outfit were black and quite simple, so that the shirt would be in the spotlight.

That is actually my first Potter-themed garment (in addition to a Slytherin scarf and tie). As a kid I had some awkward Potter college shirt, but that doesn't count. :D And this shirt in question is kinda subtle and it doesn't scream "this is a Harry Potter shirt".

I thought also to show a fragrance gift I got from my boyfriend's parents. They were on a holiday trip and they had bought me the Ma Dame eau de toilette by Jean Paul Gaultier in the airplane. It's quite a youthful and strong fragrance, and I think it'll make a good party perfume. And it has a pretty bottle.

My basic fragrance has been the Malesian coconut by Yves Rocher for a bit over a year now, and I've been loving it from the first spray. But I guess now I have to get to the studying. Have a nice weekend, everyone! :)

"Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts."

Nyt, kun jouluaatostakin alkaa olla jo pari viikkoo ja oon kotonakin ollu jo viikon, niin vois alkaa olla aika esitellä joitain lempparijoululahjojani. Sain taas aika paljo kaikkee, joten en todellakaan ala esitellä kaikkia, ja kaiken lisäks suurin osa niistä oli semmosia "tylsiä" käyttöjuttuja kuten tyynyjä ja pyyhkeitä ja sukkahousuja, joten ei niitä nyt oo mitään järkee esitellä. Mut tässä tulee nyt sekalaisessa järjestyksessä joitain kivoja juttuja, joita sain tänä jouluna.

Ensinnäkin sain taas corgiseinäkalenterin, jee! ♥

Tässä onkin sit oikeestaan tärkeimmät lahjat samassa kuvassa: uus hiustenkuivaaja, kamera ja hiiri.

Hiustenkuivaajaa käytän kyllä äärimmäisen harvoin, mut entinen kosahti just ennen jouluu, ja onhan semmonen hyvä olla olemassa, kun sitä kuitenkin joskus voi tarvita. Uus kamera sen sijaan oli ollu ykkösenä toivelistalla, ja toi Canonin IXUS 150 vaikuttaa ihan hyvältä miun tarpeisiin. Tän postauksen kuvat on (viimestä kuvaa lukuun ottamatta) otettu sillä. Alla vielä ovela peilikuvan peilikuva itse kamerasta.

Lisäks pelaajapoikaystävältäni toivoin jotain kunnon pelihiirtä, kun miulla oli ennestään vaan joku surkee langaton palikka. Alla vertailukuva. Toi Kinzu on just hyvä, kun se on vähä pienempi kuin pelihiiret yleensä eli se sopii miunkin hobittikädelle. Lisäks se tuntuu muutenkin miellyttävältä.

Kirjoja sain varmaan enemmän kuin koskaan kerralla. Tässä lempparivampyyrikirjasarjani kolme ekaa osaa samoissa kansissa sekä Finishing School -sarjan uusin osa.

Fanityttöpuoltani ei ollu myöskään unohettu, koska sain sekä Darth Vader -aamiaissetin (!!!) että Ian Doescherin William Shakespeare's Star Wars Trilogy -kirjat. Siis Shakespearen tyyliin kirjotetut episodit IV, V ja VI. Parasta.

Sit tuli kasa leivontakirjoja.

Lisäks pikkusisko yllätti ihan täysin Tom of Finland -laukkulahjallaan! En kyllä hirveesti tykkää tosta printistä, tai siis oon sitä mieltä, että Tom of Finlandin taiteesta ois varmasti löytyny parempiakin kuvia, mut oon kuitenkin innoissani tosta ideasta ja siitä, että Finlayson on uskaltanu tehä tollasia vähä erilaisia tuotteita. Lisäks toi laukku on tosi hyvänkokonen; jouluviikolla kävin kaverin luona pelailemassa lautapelejä, ja lautapeliboksi mahtu täydellisesti tohon laukkuun.

Siinäpä oli kai semmoset tärkeimmät saamani lahjat. Ite annoin kans joitain lahjoja harvoille ja valituille eli lähinnä perheelle. Poikaystävän vanhemmille virkkasin tommoset pöllölasinaluset, joista tuli mielestäni aika kivat. :) Malli on Emmacrochetdesign4U:n.

The Christmas eve was two weeks ago and I've been home for a week already, so I guess it's starting to be the time for showing some of my favourite presents. I got many kinds of things again, and I definitely am not going to show them all, since most of them are "boring" stuff like pillows and towels and tights, so there's no point in showing them. But here's, in random order, some of the cool things I got this Christmas. 

First of all, I got a new corgi calendar, yay! ♥

Then, basically the most important presents I received are on the second picture: a new hairdryer, camera and mouse.

A hairdryer is something I use quite rarely, but my old one broke down just before Christmas, and I think it's good to have one ahyway, since you do need it every once in a while. New camera was top 1 on my wishlist, and that Canon IXUS 150 seems to suit my needs. The photos of this post (except the last one) have been taken with it. There's a clever reversed photo of a mirror image where you can see the actual camera.

In addition, I wished for a proper gaming mouse from my gamer boyfriend, since I had only some sucky wireless block. There's a comparison photo. That Kinzu is just perfect, because it's smaller than an average gaming mouse, so it fits my hobbit hand too. Moreover it feels comfortable in other ways too. 

I probably got more books than ever at once. I got the first three parts of my favourite vampire book series in one book and the newest part of Finishing School series.

My fangirl side also got pampered, as I got both Darth Vader breakfast set (!!!) and the William Shakespeare's Star Wars Trilogy books by Ian Dorscher. Episodes IV, V and VI written in the style of Shakespeare. That's just awesome.

I also got a pile of baking books.

And then my little sister totally surprised me with a Tom of Finland bag she gave me! I don't actually even like the print so much, and I think there would've been much better pictures in Tom of Finland art, but I'm excited about the idea and about that Finlayson has had the courage to make a bit different products. In addition, the size of the bag is great; on the Christmas week, I went to play some board games with a friend of mine, and a board game box did fit perfectly in the bag. 

I guess those were the most important presents I received. I also gave some presents myself, mainly just for the family. For the parents of my boyfriend, I crocheted those owl coasters that turned out quite cool. :) The pattern is by Emmacrochetdesign4U.

Finest Imaginary goods

Moikka taas parin viikon tauon jälkeen. Aika menee niin nopeesti, eikä oo oikein ollu mitään erityistä postaamisen arvoista. Tänään sen sijaan tipahti postiluukusta pikkuinen paketti, jota oli päästävä esittelemään heti.

Tän oli tarkotus olla miun nimipäivälahja. Nimipäiväni oli siis vajaa kuukausi sitten, mut erinäisten ongelmien takii paketti tuli vasta nyt. Se oli kuitenkin kaiken odotuksen arvoinen. ♥

Corgikaulakoru! Oon ihastellu tota jo ikiajat Finest Imaginaryn valikoimissa, ja sit äiti ystävällisesti suostu ostamaan sellasen miulle lahjaks. Lisäks paketissa tuli bonuksena tollanen siisti kissalasinalunen ikään kuin pahoitteluna toimitusongelmista. Ei miun puolesta ois tarvinnu mitään, mut kyllähän toi kieltämättä ilahdutti vielä entisestään.

Täällä on pilvistä ja sateista (jos ois vähä viileempää, niin sää ois täydellinen), ja noista kuvista tuli vähä todellisuutta tummempia. Toi lasinalunen on oikeesti semmonen kirkas porkkananoranssi, ja corgin turkin kellertävä oranssi on kans kirkkaampi.

Tänään oon hoidellu jo kaikenlaisia asioita, ja seuraavaks pitää siirtyy takas tenttikirjojen pariin. Ehkä laitan corgikorun perjantaina tenttiin tuomaan onnea. Mukavaa viikonjatkoo!

Hi again. It's been a while. Time goes so fast, and I haven't really had anything special to post about. But today I received a small parcel that I had to show right away.

That was supposed to be my name day present. My name day was almost a month ago, but due to some delivery problems I didn't get the parcel until now. But it was worth all waiting. ♥

A corgi necklace! I've been admiring that for ages in Finest Imaginary's selection, and then my mother kindly promised to buy me one as a gift. In the parcel there was also that cool cat coaster as a bonus and as regret for the delivery problems. I wasn't expecting anything extra and didn't think it was necessary, but it did delight me.

It's quite cloudy and rainy here (if the weather was cooler, it would be just perfect), and those photos turned out a bit too dark. The coaster is actually bright carrot orange, and the yellowish orange in corgi is also brighter in real life.

Today I've already run some errands, and next I have to get back to my set books. Maybe I'll wear the corgi necklace on Friday while having my test as a luck bringer. Have a nice week!

"Love the giver more than the gift."

Aina ei oo niin helppoo ilmaista toiselle sanoin, miten paljo tästä välittää. Oon aina pitäny lahjojen antamista yhtenä konkreettisena keinona osoittaa välittämistä ja rakkautta, ja oon aina tosi ilonen, jos saan ite jotain lahjoja. Aina ei lahjojen keksiminenkään oo niin helppoo ja aina ei välttämättä saa ihan yhtä hyviä lahjoja, mut välillä taas paketista paljastuu jotain niin yllättävän mieluista, ettei oikein tiedä, miten päin olla tai miten siitä kiittää kunnolla.

Eli nyt aion käydä läpi joitain saamiani synttärilahjoja. Alotetaan romanttisimmasta lahjasta, eli korusta, joka on parissa postauksessa vilahtanutkin jo:

Ei liene epäselvyyttä siitä, keneltä elämäni tärkeältä ihmiseltä toi mahtaa olla. :) En oo vielä täysin varma, mitä teen ton riipuksen kanssa. Tossa mukana tuli ohut nahkanauha, mut en hirveesti välitä nauhoista. Toi ei kyllä toimi oikein oikean ketjunkaan kanssa, koska se on suunniteltu käytettäväks sen nauhan kanssa silleen, että tohon keskelle tulee solmu, niin se pysyy suorassa.

Oon kunnostautunu leipomisen saralla, ja sainkin jonkin uuden leipomistarvikkeenkin:

Vader-vuoka! Iik! Oon haaveillu tommosesta tosi pitkään. Onneks tällä viikolla on Star Wars -päivä May the Fourth, niin pääsen piakkoin testaamaan tota. ^_^

Tää seuraava lahja on ehkä yllättävin lahja, jonka oon saanu aikoihin, enkä tiiä, oisinko koskaan tullu ostaneeksi ite itelleni moista, mut ihastuin siihen kyllä heti; oonhan lapsesta asti tykänny lampaista.

Hih, ihana laukku. Oon kyllä kaivannu tommosta pienempää laukkuu esim. baarikäyttöön, joten tuli kyllä ihan tarpeeseen. Lisäks se on paikallista käsityötä, mistä oon myös iloinen, koska pyrin aina tukemaan käsityökulttuuria. (Suurimman osan antamistani lahjoista ostan paikallista käsityötä myyvistä liikkeistä.) Ja onhan toi ihan hiton sympaattinen. ♥

Koruja ei voi olla koskaan liikaa, ja rannekoruja miulla on muutenkin aika niukanlaisesti, joten etenkin toi rannekoru ilahdutti kyllä erityisesti tässä helmikorusetissä.

Jos synttärit on pääsiäisenä, niin luonnollisesti sillon saa myös lahjaks paljo pääsiäissuklaata. Se ei toki haittaa minuu, koska pidän kovasti suklaasta, mut lienee ymmärrettävää, etten viittiny niitä kuvata erikseen. Sen sijaan kuvaan pääsi jotain muuta herkkua:

No okei, toi lammastikkari on vähä pääsiäisteemainen, mut se on niin söpö. Pingviini-innostukseni muistettiin selvästi myös, koska pingviinejä oli niin korteissa kuin lahjoissakin. Käsintehdyt suklaapingviinit ja suklaa-chilikahvi oottaa vielä avaamista, mut ne molemmat on varmasti maukkaita.

Pingviineistä puheen ollen, lahjaksi tuli myös tällainen pikku kaveri:

Ja lopuksi sokerina pohjalla ainoo lahja, jota oikeesti toivoin ja ootin, eli rahallista tukea hiusten chisuoristukseen, jonka kävin itse asiassa ottamassa tänään.

Valitettavasti en ollu tarpeeks fiksu, että oisin ottanu ennen- ja jälkeen-kuvat, joten tukkakuvia ei nyt sit heru. Muutenkin tästä on vielä hankala sanoo, miten suora tää tukka nyt sit oikeesti on, koska se suoristettiin vielä käsittelyn päätteeksi, ja nyt sille ei saa vuorokauteen tehä mitään. Ensimmäisen hiustenpesun jälkeenhän se lopputulos sit varmaan paljastuu. Mut kyllä se aika suoralta näytti tänään kampaamossakin ennen sitä loppusuoristusta. ^_^ Jospa nyt ei tarviis enää aamuisin käyttää n. tuntii suoristuspuuhiin.

Hienoja lahjoja oli kyllä kaikki – myös ne, jotka ei kuviin päässy. Nyt taidan siirtyy ompelemaan haalareihin lisää haalarimerkkejä vappuu varten. :)

It's not always that easy to tell someone how they mean to you. I've always considered giving gifts as a concrete way to show one's caring and love, and I always get so happy if I get some gifts. But it's not always so easy to decide what to give as a gift and you may not always get as good gifts, but sometimes you get something so surprisingly pleasing that you don't really know how to react or thank the giver properly.

So now I'm going to show some of the gifts I got on my birthday. Let's start with the most romantic one, or the pendant that has already flashed in a couple of posts. There shouldn't be confusion about the giver. :) I'm not yet sure what to do with the pendant, because it had a leather cord with it, and I'm not that fond of cords. But it doesn't work very well with a chain either, because it's meant to be used with the cord in a certain way, that there'll be a knot in the middle, so the pendant will be straight.

Since I've been making my mark as a baker, I got a new baking thing: a Vader mould! Yikes! I've been wanting one for so long. Luckily the Star Wars Day May the Fourth is on this week, so I'll soon get chance to try the mould. ^_^

The next gift is maybe the most surprising gift I've ever got, and I'm not sure if I would ever have bought that kind of thing myself, but I immediately fell in love with it; I've been liking sheep since I was a kid. Hih, such a lovely bag. I've been needing a smaller bag like that for example using in bars. Also it's a local handicraft, which makes me happy, because I always try to support handicraft culture. (I buy most of the gifts I give to people from shops selling local handicrafts.) And it's so damn cute. ♥

One can never have too much jewellery, and I don't have many bracelets, so especially that bracelet delighted me in that pearl jewellery set.

If one's celebating their birthday on Easter, it's obvious that they get a lot of Easter chocolate as a gift. But I don't mind, since I happen to like chocolate a lot. But I suppose it's understandable I didn't feel like photographing them. Instead I took a photo of some other delicious-looking things. Oh well, that sheep lolly is a bit Easter-themed, but it's soo cute. Clearly people remembered that I like penguins, since there were penguins on the cards and as gifts also. The handmade penguin chocolates and the choco chili coffee are still waiting to be tasted, but I'm sure they both are tasty.

Speaking of penguins, I got also a little penguin plushie as a gift.

And last but not the least, the only gift I really wished and expected: monetary support for CHI straightening that I actually had today. Unfortunately I wasn't clever enough to take "before" and "after" photos, so there's no hair photos. And it's still quite difficult to say how straight this hair now really is, because it was yet straightened after the treatment, and now I'm not allowed to do anything to it for 24 hours. I guess the final result will be revealed after the first wash. But it surely did look quite straight at the hairdresser's before that last straightening. ^_^ Maybe I don't have to spend about an hour each morning for straightening my hair.

I really liked all gifts – also those that didn't make it to the photos. I think that now I'll start sewing more patches on my overalls for May Day. :) (It's quite a big student holiday here in Finland, and university students naturally celebrate it in their overalls.)

Kauluspaitatyttö

Tänään teki mieli laittaa päälle kaikenlaista uutta. Kauluspaita tarttui jokunen aika sit mukaan Seppälän alennusmyynneistä, ja kaulakorun sain tiistaina myöhäissynttärilahjaksi. Lisäks pihalla tepastelin uusissa tennareissa, jotka ei nyt kylläkään päässy kuvaan/kuviin. Ai niin ja käytin myös uutta violettia kajalia, joka ei kylläkään kuvassa ees taida näkyy.

Taannoisesta kirpparilöytöhameesta on tullu miun suosikkiarkivaate. Oon tainnu käyttää tota koko tänkin viikon, hups. Se on mukava ja nätti ja käy kaiken kanssa, eikä se oo liian lyhyt tai paljastava eikä liehu vaarallisesti tuulessa.

Eilen kävin ostamassa liput kahteen ekaan perjantain Ghost of Cinemare -leffaan. Uu jee, 3D-gorea ja vampyyreja. Niistä on varmasti hieno yö tehty.

Today I wanted to wear all kinds of new things. The blouse I found a while ago on sale at Seppälä, and the necklace I got as a post-birthday present on Tuesday. And outside I walked in new sneakers, but they were left out of the photo(s). And I used a new violet kohl that isn't really visible in the photo.

That skirt found at a flea market has become my favourite everyday piece of clothing. I guess I've been using that for whole week again, oops. It's comfy and pretty and it looks great with everything, and it isn't too short or too revealing and it doesn't wave too dangerously in the wind.

Yesterday I bought tickets for two horror movies of Ghost of Cinemare event that's on this Friday. Oh yeah, 3D gore and vampires. I'm sure that's what a great night is made of.

I just wanna be 16, even though I'm 23

... paitsi että oikeesti kyllä mieluummin ampuisin pääni irti kuin olisin taas 16. :D Joka tapauksessa tulin täyttäneeksi 23 tuossa aamuyöllä, joten The Indelicatesin Sixteen-biisistä (Youtube-video postauksen lopuksi) edes osa pitää paikkansa.

Eilen illalla pieni yksiöni täyttyi ihmisistä juhlistaessani hieman ikääntymistäni. Illasta on tallessa vain muutama valitettavan huono kuva, mutta paremman puutteessa lätkäisen ne nyt tähän. Ajankohdan takia päätin pukeutuu ees hivenen pääsiäismäisesti.

Minuu muistettiin näteillä korteilla ja kaikenlaisilla kivoilla pikku lahjoilla.

Kaikki lahjat ei nyt näy tossa, ja osa on vielä vasta tulossa, mut saatan esitellä niitä myöhemmin ja paremmassa valossa tarkemmin. :) Etenkin miun uus laukku tarvii kyllä ihan erillisen postauksen, koska se on niin veikeä (ja musta, eli heikossa valaistuksessa ei kyllä mitään lähellekään kunnollisia kuvia oo toivettakaan saada).

Last night my little apartment filled up with people as we were celebrating my birthday. There's only a few regrettably poor photo, but since I have no better ones, I have to use them. Due to the occasion I decided to dress a bit more Easterly.

I got pretty cards and all kinds of nice little presents. All of the presents aren't in that photo, and I haven't even received all yet, but I might dedicate a post to them later, when there's better lighting. :) Especially my new bag deserves a separate post, because it's so cute (and black, which means that you can't get even any moderately good photos of it without good lighting).
