I'm so annoyed by all the "New year, new tricks" bullshit, so I'm not going to go for that. Instead I'm going to revise very shortly some of the happenings of last year, though the year wasn't really special to me.
Tammikuu / January
Vuosi alkoi joululahjaksi saamani corgiseinäkalenterin kanssa. Oli kylmä eikä tapahtunu oikein mitään.
The year begun with a corgi calendar I had got as a Christmas present. It was cold and nothing really happened.
Helmikuu / Febryary
Helmikuussa ilmesty Stam1nan SLK, josta tuli heti oma lemppari. Stam1na tuli keikalle Joensuuhun, ja ennen sitä bändin jäsenet pitivät pienen nimmarointitilaisuuden, jonne kiikutin bändipaitani ja SLK:ni. Helmikuu oli siis aika lailla Stam1na-kuu.
On February, Stam1na released their new album SLK, which immediately became my favourite. Stam1na came to gig in Joensuu, and before the gig they had a small autograph event where I took my bandshirt and SLK with me. So February was pretty much a Stam1na month.
Maaliskuu / March
Maaliskuun puolivälissä tuli kolmas vuosi täyteen nykyisessä parisuhteessa. Juhlittiin sitä mm. käymällä kiinalaisessa ravintolassa ekaa kertaa. Tukka ei sillon yltäny vielä ees hartioille.
In March, me and my partner had our third anniversary. We celebrated it by eating at a Chinese restaurant for the first time, among other things. Back then my hair didn't even reach my shoulders yet.
Huhtikuu / April
Huhtikuussa vanhenin vuodella, ja pidin sen kunniaks synttärijuhlat. Sain kaikkia kivoja lahjoja. Syntymäpäiväni kunniaksi kävin myös ottamassa chi-suoristuksen, jota olin suunnitellu jo jonkin aikaa.
In April, I got a year older, and I threw a birthday party. I got all kinds of cool presents. In honour of my birthday, I also went to have a chi straightening that I had been planning for a while.
Toukokuu / May
Kesä tuli jo jossain toukokuun puolvälissä, ja oli ihan sietämättömän kuuma. Sain jalkaani rasitusmurtuman, joka vaivaskin sit pitkälle kesään. Lisäks sain lopultakin palautettuu kandidaatintutkielmani sekä ostin kivan hatun. Poikaystävä lähti kesäks toiselle paikkakunnalle töihin.
Summer came already in May, and it was unbearably hot. I got a stress facture on my foot, and it remained aching long in the summer. In addition, I finally finished and returned my bachelors thesis and I bought a nice hat. My boyfriend got a summer job on another town and left there.
Kesäkuu / June
Kärsin tuskallisista helteistä. Juhannus meni mukavasti yhessä poikaystävän kanssa. Loppukuusta kävin pikkusiskon kanssa Kawaconissa, jollon kuitenkin onneks oli viileempi.
I suffered from the painful heat. I spent Midsummer with my boyfriend. In the end of the month, I went to Kawacon with my little sister, and luckily the weather was cooler then.
Heinäkuu / July
Olin täynnä kaikkii luovia ideoita, joita en kuitenkaan helteen takia saanu oikein toteutettua. Sain kuitenkin ommeltuu kissahäkin verhot, jotka tuttavan äiti tarvis kissanäyttelyjä varten.
My mind was full of creative ideas, but the heat made me pretty deactivated. However I did sew cat cage curtains for the mother of a friend of mine, since she needed them for a cat show.
Elokuu / August
Elokuussa tapahtu paljo kivoja juttuja: valmistuin humanististen tieteiden kandidaatiksi, sain corgikaulakorun sekä sain vuohikavereita kotieläinmetsässä! Kuvasta näkyy, mitä näistä pidin tärkeimpänä.
A lot of nice things happened in August: I graduated as a Bachelor of Arts, I got a corgi necklace and I made some goat friends at a petting zoo forest! You can see from the picture which one I found the most important.
Syyskuu / September
Luennot alko taas kesäloman jälkeen. Kesällä alkaneet univaikeudet jatkuivat edelleen. Ja lunta tuli ekan kerran jo syyskuussa! Hulluu.
The lectures begun again after the summer. The sleeping problems having started during the summer continued. And it snowed first time in September! That's just crazy.
Lokakuu / October
Vuoden parasta aikaa: halloween! Halloween-juttuja olikin sit aika paljo. Olin liikkeellä verenhimosena hoitsuna.
The best time of the year: Halloween! There were quite a many Halloween things going on. I was on the go as a blood-thirsty nurse.
Marraskuu / November
Pikkujoulukausi alko ja tentit alko kasaantua. Ostin essun ja cd-levyjä.
The Christmas party season started, and there were also a lot of exams and essays. I bought an apron and CDs.
Joulukuu / December
Olin pari viikkoo melkein kokonaan nukkumatta unettomuuden takia. Piti hoitaa jouluasioita, ja sitten se joulu tuli ja meni. Loppukuusta olin vielä kaverin tankkikissan vahtina, ja sit juhlittiinkin jo uuttavuotta.
I spent two weeks almost without any sleep due to insomnia. I had to take care of Christmas stuff, and then the Christmas came and went. In the end of the month I was watching over the huge cat of a friend of mine, and then was already the New Year's Eve.
Siinäpä miun vuosi pähkinänkuoressa. Lisäks tein uusia huikeita musiikkilöytöjä (esim. Molly Nilsson, Lebanon Hanover, The Luna Sequence), pelailin videopelejä (lemppari peleistä, jotka pelasin tänä vuonna läpi, oli Saints Row: The Third, mut mieleen jäi myös mm. The Cat Lady), lueskelin jotain muutakin kuin tenttikirjallisuutta (eniten taisin lukee John Ajvide Lindqvistiä sekä Gail Carrigerin Finishing Schoolia) ja katselin liikkuvaa kuvaakin. Oon kattonu Hannibalia nyt aika tiiviiseen tahtiin loppuvuodesta alkaen, ja nyt on kakkostuotantokausi loppuvaiheessa.
Ihan kelpo vuosi vaikkei ollukaan mitenkään ihmeellinen. Toivottavasti tää vuosi tuo mukanaan kaikkee kivaa niin miulle kuin teille lukijoillekin! Seuraavaks aattelin esitellä joitain juttuja, joita joulupukki miulle toi.
That's my year in a nutshell. In addition, I made some great music discoveries (e.g. Molly Nilsson, Lebanon Hanover, The Luna Sequence), played videogames (my favourite of the games I played through this year was Saints Row: The Third, but e.g. The Cat Lady sticks in my mind too), read something else than exam books too (I think that I read most John Ajvide Linqvist and the Finishing School series by Gail Carriger) and watched some moving pictures too. Since the end of the year, I've been watching Hannibal at quite a fast pace, and now I'm in the end of the second season.
It was a decent year though nothing too special. I hope this year brings all kinds of nice things for both me and you readers! On my next post I thought to show some things the Santa brought me.
